Halloween might be the best time of year for DIY holiday decor! You’re going to love this cute Halloween DIY candy corn project.

I have another fun little Halloween DIY to share with you today! We made these little candy corns out of some pieces of 2×4 that we had leftover from some other projects and I think they turned out really well. This was such a quick little project, but I love how great these look as a quick centerpiece or on my kitchen counter… they add some cute Halloween fun pretty much anywhere really!
We made them in three different sizes because we thought that would look best in the middle of our table where we wanted them, but you could definitely make three (or more) all the same size if you wanted to line them up. The bright colors really say “It’s Halloween!” with out being creepy and scaring small children. Anyone with small kids knows that sometimes a lot of Halloween decorations can be a little too scary!
Fun & Colourful Halloween DIY
We just used some paint that we had on hand for the three colors and didn’t worry too much about staying true to the real candy corn colors. I think the yellow is maybe a little too soft and light, but I kind of like that!
The easiest way to paint these is to do the top and the bottom colors first and then tape off the middle section and paint that last to give you your nice crisp lines and your three colors. Well, crisp-ish lines. 🙂 Don’t over-think this, it’s just a fun little Halloween project! We just eyeballed it when it came to taping off for the middle section and everything turned out just fine. When it comes to little projects like this, I always think that the easier you can make them, the better! You can see that we have kind of a “crackle” finish in the middle orange section there, that was completely not on purpose, but I kind of like it! That just came from using different random types of paint that dry at different speeds.
So that’s our little candy corn project! These are so cute and such a classic that I know I’ll be pulling these out and finding a place for them somewhere around the house every Halloween for years to come!
