Wicker and woven materials are such an important element in making a room design feel complete and cozy. While I use wicker pieces of all kinds year-round, they really are particularly charming at Christmastime paired with greenery and sparkling decorations.

I was at a design client’s home the other day discussing some finishing touches that we were adding to a room, and I, of course, had to mention how important and impactful wicker and other woven items are to making a space feel cozy and complete. I’ve taken a bit of a Christmas angle to this post because we’re all starting to think about our Christmas decorating right now, but really, pieces made from rattan, seagrass, water hyacinth, or willow are such powerful decorating tools throughout the year. Wicker looks absolutely amazing paired with Christmas greenery, whether real or faux, but you’ll find it works perfectly with botanicals of all kinds during every season. Real wicker is having a bit of a moment right now with traditional design becoming so popular, so I thought I would round up a few of my favorite wicker finds to help give you some ideas for different ways to use woven materials in your home.

Favorite Wicker and Woven Pieces for Your Home

Pictured above:
Faux Cedar Wreath | This beautiful, inexpensive wreath is a piece that you can use over and over again for years. Use it as-is or add a ribbon, berry picks, or foraged finds to make it fresh and new each year.
Wicker Picnic Basket | This beautiful basket has a vintage look to it and comes with a full picnic dish set, but don’t put it away when summer is over. Leave it out on a shelf or tucked under a console table to bring texture and warmth to your space all year round.
Rattan Stool | If you’re in the market for new bar stools for your kitchen, these are a great option. They bring warmth to a space with lots of hard stone and painted surfaces, and the graceful curves will compliment all the straight lines of your cabinetry. I love that these look like handmade vintage pieces and they’ll truly stand the test of time.
Wicker Shaded Sconces | Love wicker sconces to add an unexpected touch on either side of a mirror, over a bedside table, or in a hallway to frame a piece of art. Love this oversized woven pendant light as well! And this wicker lamp!
Rattan Picture Frame | A sweet little way to add a touch of warmth to a shelf or tabletop. This would make a great gift when paired with a favorite photo!
Scalloped Wicker Napkin Rings | These would look incredible on a table with simple linens, some fresh greenery, and candles. Napkin rings are such an easy way to bring personality to a table.
Rattan Tray | Layer this tray on a coffee table or on top of a dresser to anchor groupings of decorative objects, framed photos, or even a collection of bottles on a traditional drinks table.
Affordable Wicker Armchair | I love the timeless, weathered finish on these arm chairs with the warm color of natural wicker layered with a darker finish to bring a little aged character. A pair of these chairs at either end of a long table would look amazing.
Wicker Side Table | This sturdy little table is such a fun way to make a statement with wicker.
Wicker and Glass Vases | Timeless staples to use throughout the year, and a beautiful, fresh way to display Christmas greenery.
Faux Pine Branches | These faux pine branches are a great deal and make decorating with the look of fresh greenery so easy. I often pair faux and real greenery in my vases to keep my arrangements looking fresh throughout the season.
Faux Cedar Shrub | These little shrubs are such an easy way to bring some green to your porch or entryway. Tuck them into a basket for a timeless look that will always be eye-catching.
Handled Wicker Basket | A beautiful, high-quality basket that you can use for years to come. The handles are such a charming detail.
Other Ways I’ve Added Woven Pieces to Our Home
I’ve always been so drawn to anything with a basket-like texture, and although wicker might be extra popular right now, I’ve been adding more pieces to my home year after year, for as long as I can remember. This year I added a woven bamboo shade to our ensuite to warm the space up and it was exactly what that room needed. I also paired these beautiful but inexpensive sconces with these cute wicker shades in our kitchen update this summer, and they brought so much personality to that space.
If you visit my LTK shop, you’ll find a little something woven in nearly every space and curated collection I share over there.
If you feel like your room might be missing something, try adding baskets, trays, and other furnishings in woven materials and you’ll be amazed at how things start to come together and make sense.
