Since we left our jobs and our old house in the city and moved out to the country, and since I started working at home for myself a few years ago, I’ve found myself growing more and more passionate about just how great of a situation this is for me to be in. I’ve always felt that if one day I managed to achieve any kind of success working for myself, that it’s something that I would definitely want to help others to do as well. It really is a dream come true for me in so many ways!
Working from home can be completely ideal for some of us. It can be especially convenient if you have young kids that need to be dropped off and picked up from school, older kids with lots of sports commitments, or even if you have hobbies that you really want time to be able to pursue or just find that you’re happier if you get lots of quiet time to yourself during the day. By the way, all of those examples completely apply to me. 🙂 Obviously, this working arrangement is absolutely perfect for me and if you think it might be perfect for you too, here are some ideas to mull over while you’re planning to make your move!
Virtual Assistant
A lot of smaller independent online business owners who find themselves with some level of success also find themselves lacking in time to take care of all of the small daily tasks that need to be taken care of in the online world. Things like social media management, content creation, and editing are all pretty easy tasks to learn to do by someone looking to be a virtual assistant, but these services can be of real value to someone who just doesn’t have the time to fit it all in to the day!
Property Manager
If you’re someone who rents an apartment, condo, or townhouse, your job could be right under your nose! Often the person who takes care of keeping the hallways and the front flowerbeds neat and tidy and helps out other tenants with minor issues is someone living right in the building! Our building manager lived right in our building when we rented our first apartment and it was a system that seemed to work really well!
Social Media Manager
Every company, big or small, needs at least one person to manage their social media posts and interactions these days. If you’re a pro with Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram, this could be your next dream career!
Rental Property Owner
If you’re lucky enough to have a little extra money to invest in your new career, you could not only manage some properties, but you could own them too! I’ve always thought the title of “Real Estate Tycoon” had a nice ring to it! 🙂
Freelance Writer
A lot of blogs or online magazines are often looking for good content to fill up their websites and they’re willing to pay good money for it! There are even some informative “how-to” sites that let you publish posts and get paid based on how many people come to read what you’ve written!
Website Owner/Blog Writer
Well, this one is pretty obvious to me! It takes a lot of work to get things rolling, but once you’re set up and have a good solid base of content that people are interested in, your reader traffic will continue to grow more and more easily! There are so many ways to make your website fun for you to work on, fun for your readers, AND lucrative at the same time!
Etsy Shop Owner
I’m always amazed at some of the success stories that I hear coming out of Etsy! If you’ve got a great handmade product that people are interested in, this is one of the easiest ways to get it out there. I admit that I’ve been buying more and more things on Etsy because you really can find just about anything you’re looking for on there!
Amazon product seller
If you’ve got an idea for a product that you think people need, chances are there are folks searching for it on Amazon right now! You can find contacts online to help you design, manufacture, package, and ship your products, simply by googling it! There are some great podcasts out there about how to do all of this without much of an initial investment too!
Scentsy/Essential Oil/Whatever marketer
People love to buy the things that they want and need from people that they know and there are more and more companies offering really high quality products that are running on that business model these days. If you love to socialize and talk with friends about products that you love, this could be a great way for you to make a few extra bucks or it could be an entirely new career!
Choose your own adventure!
One of the things that I find so exciting about the world we live in today is that everything is constantly changing. Chances are that your next career or the careers that your kids will have haven’t even been heard of yet! If you have any idea for a service that you think will be needed in our world, especially in our online world, make it happen on your terms and from the comfort of your own home! If there’s an existing company or online business that you love and would like to work for, reach out to them and see if they have any positions that would be a good fit for you! There are countless new and innovative companies popping up all of the time that serve publishers, and advertisers, as well as so many social media and app companies that are changing the way we all live our lives everyday! You could be a part of that and you could do it from home!
If working from home is something that you’ve been dreaming about, then I hope that this post has given you a little bit of inspiration and motivation to go ahead and make your dreams happen!
