Faux olive trees can help bring texture, style, and life to a space that’s feeling a bit dull. Today, I’ll share my favorite options that are the most realistic, life-like, and beautiful home decor trees I’ve come across.

I recently added a faux olive tree to an empty wall in my bedroom and I just can’t get over how much life and personality it has brought to the space. Of course, I’ve tried a few different artificial trees in the past, but I’ve never really loved them as much as I wanted to. There was always something that was a little bit off: Either the shape of the trunk and branches weren’t quite right or the green of the leaves was just a little too vibrant to really look good with my decor in most cases. This new olive tree is just perfect, though, and it just fit right in so beautifully that I’m already starting to look at other places in my home where an olive tree might be just the thing I need. Today I’m sharing my favorite life-like faux olive trees of different shapes and sizes, so hopefully you’ll find one that’s exactly what you need for your home, too.

The Best Faux Olive Trees for Your Home

My olive tree is from a brand called Lyerse, which is available on Amazon, and honestly these trees are even more beautiful than the expensive, high-end faux olive trees that I’ve seen, even though they’re much more affordable. I love that they have trees in different shapes and heights so you can find something that will fit perfectly in the space you have available, whether it’s a big, open area, or just a little corner that could use some more personality.
I’ve also been looking for a smaller tabletop style olive tree for the last little while and this one looks absolutely beautiful. I like a trunk that has a bit of character to it, something that isn’t just a straight stick. I think that makes all the difference, and this one looks so cute. I’d love to see this in an aged terracotta pot in the middle of a kitchen island or a dining room table.
Another thing I look for in an olive tree is a realistic leaf color that will be subtle enough to look good with my home decor and can be paired easily with real houseplants without looking obviously artificial. Bendable branches are also so important for giving a faux plant a graceful appearance and ensuring it looks just right from every angle.

When it comes to decorating your home with artificial trees, there are a few little home decor tricks that will make all the difference. You want your tree to look grand, full of life, and to really have a big impact in your space. Certain trees can just look sad and plasticky, so it’s important to get it right when choosing your tree and deciding how to display it.

Choose the Biggest Tree That Will Fit
Artificial olive trees are a little like Christmas trees: you should always go a little bigger than what you think sounds reasonable. You might think that a smaller tree will make more sense in a small space, but in fact, a tree that sounds like it will fit just right will probably look too small and insignificant when you get it in your space. For the most natural appearance, you want a few branches to overlap a bit with the furnishings around it. Branches can be bent strategically to make room for walking or accessing drawers or shelves as necessary. This is a 7ft tree, which sounds crazy on paper for a tiny corner like this, but as you can see, it looks absolutely perfect in this space and doesn’t interfere with the dresser at all.
Bend Each Branch for the Fullest Look
Your olive tree is likely to be packed quite tightly in a box when you receive it, so it’s important to take a few minutes to fluff the branches up. Make sure to bend end branch and stem for a graceful, life-like reach. I like to bend most branches in two directions, ending with a bend so that leaves on the top of the branch are facing in the direction that I most often see the tree from for the fullest look. For example, I bent quite a few of the branches to the side, then adjusted the top section of the branch to face forward, giving the feel of natural changing growth patterns over time. A tree with fully bendable branches like this one allows you to customize your tree for your space and make sure it looks perfect from every angle.

Place your Tree in a Decorative Pot, Planter, or Basket
The pot that your olive tree comes in will likely be quite small, but it will be heavy to keep the tree from falling over. For a more balanced, elegant look, transfer your tree to a larger ceramic planter or a basket that matches the other decor in your space. I used this rustic basket planter and I just love the finished look. After placing the smaller weighted pot into the basket, I filled around with plastic bags from the recycling bin, then topped it off with Spanish moss for a finished look.

I absolutely love how my olive tree looks in my space, and I can’t stop thinking of other areas in my home where an oversized tree like this would look absolutely beautiful. More greenery, real or imitation, is always a good idea, especially during the colder months of the year.
