Can you believe it’s October already? We’ve got our Halloween countdown calendar all filled up with candies and the official countdown to the big day has begun!
To celebrate, I’m joining forces with a few other talented bloggers this week. We’ll be sharing some fun Halloween ideas to get us all in the mood to make this Halloween absolutely spooktacular!
I created this fun giant vase/container/hurricane/whatever you want to call it as my contribution.
I’ve been on a mission to use up all of the plain glass containers that I’ve been keeping in my back hall “just in case” and I thought this might be the perfect chance.
I’ve had this big plain glass thing for awhile. I always thought it seemed so versatile and I could use it in so many different applications. The problem is that I didn’t use it. Ever. It just sat there collecting dust.
Now I’ll have an occasion to use it every year at Halloween!
I cleaned the vase up and I gathered my supplies.
I used this small bottle of chalkboard paint from DecoArt for this one. I do have a giant can of chalkboard paint as well, but I love having these little bottles around for smaller scale projects.
I gave the whole thing 2 very imperfect coats. At one point I started to paint a little too early and didn’t let the previous coat dry. It made the finish a little chunkier and messier, but it’s Halloween, so we’ll just say that now it looks extra spooky. 🙂
All I had to do to finish it off was grab some ribbon from my stash, and some hot glue of course!
I just love the end result. It brings a good dose of Halloween fun to wherever I place it and now it has a PURPOSE!
Check out all the other fun Halloween projects from this week below! This list will continue to be updated until Friday and more projects will be added, so remember to check back!
