This slow cooker pumpkin dump cake will become an instant classic with your family. It doesn’t look pretty, but it’s the perfect comfort food for a chilly fall evening at home!
Have you seen all of these dump cake recipes floating around the internet? I was really curious to try one out recently after seeing apple, cherry, and chocolate versions, so I thought a fun pumpkin version would be perfect for this time of year. It seemed like just the right thing for a cozy weekend evening and let me tell you, it was. When I was making this cake, the whole “dumping” process really reminded me of the giant junk pile of leftover debris in our driveway from all of our renovations this year, so I decided that I would call this my junk pile cake. 🙂 Toss this slow cooker pumpkin dump cake (or junk pile cake) into your crock pot on the way out to the orchard to pick apples and enjoy it when you get home for the most perfectly autumn-ish day ever.
Ingredients for the Slow Cooker Pumpkin Dump Cake
I love short ingredients lists! 🙂
You’ll need:
- Pumpkin puree
- White or golden cake mix (This is my recipe for making your own cake mix, which will work for this as well)
- Butter or butter substitute
- Pumpkin spice (You can learn how to mix up your own here if you don’t have any in the house)
- Brown sugar (Again, here’s how to make your own!)
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to serve
How to Make the Slow Cooker Pumpkin Dump Cake
For this recipe, I used my casserole style Crock Pot. This is perfect for casseroles and cakes of any kind and even corn on the cob. Any style of slow cooker will work, I just found that this style was super easy to serve from when the cake was ready.
To make a dump cake you really do pretty much just dump all of the ingredients in and go! This recipe involves about 10 seconds of stirring as well but I thought “Slow Cooker Pumpkin Dump and Stir Just a Little Cake” didn’t have quite the same ring to it. 🙂
This cake definitely made my home smell fall-licious while it was cooking and it was a fun family-style treat for everyone to enjoy together. Definitely not a fancy recipe to serve for guests for a formal dinner, but a great thing to enjoy around the table while you recount all of your adventures jumping in leaves and visiting the fall fair. 🙂
Here’s the full printable recipe!
