I’ve always loved the idea of making my own outdoor decorations for Christmas, but we truthfully have never really done much of it in the past. Maybe a wreath here, or an urn there, but I’ve mostly just kept my DIY decorating to indoors and to the mudroom. I’m always so inspired though when I see all the beautiful and simple ideas for outdoor Christmas decor that people come up with that really make their homes look awesome for the holidays. We’ve been playing around with a few quick and easy DIY decor ideas here and there this year, like with the over-sized red stars that we built, and we’ve had quite a few ideas that have actually turned out really well, which is always pretty exciting. They don’t always turn out so well, of course! 🙂 One of the ideas that we’re going to show you here today actually had my neighbor texting me the other day to find out what that fancy-looking tree thing was in our front yard! We put together a little video to show you a couple of our favorite DIY decor projects coming together, and then I’ve included a list of some of my favorites that I’ve seen here and there just to make sure you have lots of great ideas! Check out our little video and tell me what you think about my little tree. We’re pretty proud of how it turned out and it looks so neat at night with a spotlight shining on it!
And now even more great ideas! 🙂
Votive candle runway for Santa from HGTV.
Pine cone wreath in various colors from Felicia Kramer. (Buy pinecones here if you don’t have your own that you can collect from the backyard!)
Snowmen made from stacked terracotta pots from the Home Depot Garden Club. (So cute!!)
Scrap wood snowmen from Lovely Little Snippets.
Fallen log lawn reindeer from Off Grid Home Sweet Home.
Snowflake wreath from House of Noise.
Painted PVC pipe candy canes from Instructables.com
Vintage wood sled from HGTV and Brian Patrick Flynn. (I love this cute little sled too if you’d rather just buy one!)
Nature inspired flower pot arrangement from Julie Blanner. Love that antler!
Faux snowballs from Cottage in the Oaks.
Front porch hot cocoa bar from Celebrating Everyday Life.
You can find nice big jars like that here! Notice the use of coffee filters! That’s another great use I should add to my “uses for coffee filters” post! 🙂
Have you ever made your own outdoor decorations or do you always use store-bought?
