I mentioned the other day how much I like to freshen up the air in my home to feel more spring-like at this time in the winter season when the winter blahs are out in full force. I shared a few different ideas for making the air in your home feel more spring-like, and you can read the full post here, but I wanted to talk a little bit more about using essential oils in your diffuser today. Scent is such a powerful thing and I have a few diffuser recipes that I really love that just make me feel like BAM spring is here! The smell of homemade lamb stew also does that for me for some reason, but that’s probably a discussion for another day. 🙂 Everyone reacts differently to different scents of course, but I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorites for you to try out in your diffuser at home if you feel like you could use a little hint o’ spring in your air.
I gave them all the recipes springy names too, ’cause I’m fun like that. 🙂
This first one I’m calling “Flip Flop Weather”.
This is a really sweet, happy scent that will definitely energize you. This brings to mind the excitement of the first time during the spring when the weather is warm enough to break out the flip flops! 🙂
This next one is “The Forest Floor”.
The first time I tried out this combination was in the late fall. As soon as I caught a wiff of it though, WOOSH, I was transported to a forest trail in the spring! Specifically one of those forest trails with the really soft, earthy feel to them. You know, with all the broken twigs, the roots sticking up here and there, and the occasional fallen leaf underfoot. Trails like that are some of my favorite places to be in the world, so this essential oil combination has been in heavy rotation around here ever since I discovered it!
Then we have “Open Window”.
This one is really fresh, grassy, and a bit earthy and reminds me of the smell of fresh air coming through an open window in the early spring. Very refreshing. I can almost hear the lawnmowers running in the background when I put this one on. 🙂
The last one I have for you here today is “The Herb Garden”.
Kind of a neat thing happens when you combine all of these oils together that don’t seem like they would blend well: You end up with a really natural, garden-y smell that’s a little bit earthy, a little bit sweet, and a little bit floral, but really unique and lovely. Definitely give this one a try if you have all these oils in your stash!
Essential oil diffusers used to be really expensive, but they’ve become a lot more affordable and more widely available lately. I have 2 pretty basic ones that I use around our house, but I’ve been seeing some nice decorative ones lately that would be great in a living room or a kitchen and I’m really liking these woodgrain diffusers that I’ve been seeing a lot too.
I should mention that the oils that you see in the pictures are the oils that I usually use at home and they’re from PURE, where I get most of my essential oils. You need to order directly from them, so let me know if you’re interested and I can get you some more info. Just leave me a comment or send me an email. ???? The PURE oils go through 9 different purity tests and are super high quality. They’re also about 1/2 the price of a lot of oils that you can get from the other big essential oil companies so that’s why I almost always buy from there. ???? I linked to some oils from other manufacturers in this post for your convenience so you can see what the bottles look like or buy them instantly through Amazon. This brand that I’ve linked to is the brand that I usually go with if I’m out of something and need to pick it up from a local store and don’t have time to wait to get my PURE order for that month. I find that if I don’t provide enough info about which essential oils I choose and why in these posts, that someone always asks to have that part of things explained a little better. So if you want to know more about this (or anything else I write about ever, just drop me a line!)
So those are the oil combinations that I’ve been enjoying over the last little while as I’m dreaming of spring! Do you have any favorite diffuser recipes that you love at this time of year?
