I thought it would be really fun to put together a little gallery of some past ideas that I still really love. Here are some favourite Christmas decorating ideas from past years!
I love so many different styles of Christmas decor, but you just can’t do everything every year! I don’t like to completely reinvent the wheel every year, but I do love to draw inspiration from what I’ve done before and then try a few new things here and there, wherever it feels right. I thought it would be fun to look back on a few of my favourite ideas from past years and share them with you here before I start showing you what we have in our home for Christmas decor this year. Here are some of my favourite Christmas decorating ideas of all time, so far. 🙂
Blue and White Christmas Decor
This post about our blue and white Christmas decor from last year is getting a lot of visitors again this season! I’m doing a lot less blue and white this year, but it’s definitely still in there! I can never be completely without a little blue and white in my life. I shared a roundup of a few other blue and white Christmas decor ideas here as well.

Blue and White Christmas Porch Decor
We did this porch a couple of years ago in collaboration with a local greenhouse, so we borrowed a lot of the supplies from them just for the season and the photos, but I did keep a few things. One thing I’d really love to do again is buy a whole bunch of lanterns like these to line up. The only issue would be finding a place to store them all for the rest of the year! I’ve been working on decluttering the basement a lot, so maybe I’ll be able to clear up a shelf that can be dedicated to just my Christmas lanterns. We’ll see. 🙂
A Bow Christmas Tree Topper
This is now my go-to topper every year. I love that it’s a simple solution that I can use to go with any kind of decor I come up and the ribbon can be re-used for something different the following year! Definitely a clutter-free tree topper if ever there was such a thing. Here’s how to make a bow Christmas tree topper.
How to Add Vertical Ribbon to a Christmas Tree
I love how this little trick makes your tree look instantly more elegant.
DIY Cedar Garland
This was so fun to make. I’m really hoping that this will become a regular tradition one of these years.
Homemade Scented Pinecones
I have a few that I’ve gathered from outside that are drying right now just for this purpose! So quick and easy, but it just makes you feel like you’re really having a good old-fashioned Christmas. Here’s how to do it.
