Skipped a week last week due to extreme busy-ness, but I’m back at it today, sharing some random happenings with you for no other reason than it’s fun and I like to do it. 🙂
We finished our living room built-ins and they’re everything I dreamed they would be and more. We decided last weekend to do a big final push and just get the living room built-ins done once and for-all. Part of that is because I refused to start putting up our Christmas decor before it was done and Chris really thought it was about time that we start working on some Christmas content. He’s not wrong, but I’m so glad we finished this first because now we can really enjoy the whole room to the fullest extent. Tree number one is going up this weekend!
Here’s a little sneak peek I shared on stories the other day.
Blueberry Christmas decor is happening again this year and this time it’s going to be inside, not just on the front porch. I loved the blue and white berries we had out on our nature-inspired front porch last year, that I decided to go with the theme again this year for the living room and the fancy new wall o’ shelves. You can see more about my blue and white Christmas decor plans here, if you missed the post last week. I picked up some navy blue velvet ribbon a couple of weeks ago and I’m really looking forward to seeing it all come together now that I’ve had a couple of weeks of seasonless living under my belt after all the Halloween stuff was put away. It’s nice to have a little break in between these very decor-oriented seasons, and now I think we’re all really ready for Christmas around here.
We had 20+ degree celsius weather for over a week and it really messed with my sense of urgency for Christmas preparations. OK, so I’m excited about Christmas, but I haven’t been doing the best job of actually jumping into all of the necessary Christmas preparations over the course of the past week because it’s been so hard to feel like Christmas is just around the corner when we’ve been experiencing so much perfect late-summer-ish weather. It’s not really uncommon to have beautiful, warm November days here, but more than a week straight of this type of weather is pretty unusual. I’m hoping I’m able to mentally kick things back into high-gear now that the temperatures have cooled down a bit more.
We’re about to have a kid with braces. Or at least Invisalign. We’ve been to the orthodontist a few times this last month and it looks like Kennedy will be needing braces of some kind. She’s not too worried about it at all, so we’re lucky, but I feel like we may be in for a bit of an adventure here. Has anyone else had braces or had a son or daughter who got them? Any great tips for us?
Recent shoots. Life is so funny sometimes isn’t it? At this time last year, this idea I had that there might maybe, possibly, be a few local companies who would be interested in having us style and photograph their work was just a tiny little nugget of a thought. And now, a year later, our schedule is so full with shooting photos for other people that we can barely find time for our own projects. It’s just the most fun thing though and we’re committed to finding the perfect balance between number of shooting/client meeting days, number of editing days, and number of blog work days each week. I think we’re close to finding a sweet spot with all of this, but it means we’re currently booking new shoots 3-4 weeks out and it’s hard to tell our clients that we love so much that we can’t get to their project right away! I think the wait is worth it though. 🙂 The projects/work that we’ve been shooting lately have been so amazing and it’s so satisfying in the end when we get photos that turn out like this!
