So, I was going to get together with my Canadian Bloggers Home Tour group this week and do a whole big group home tour for Easter, but we just weren’t quite able to get our schedules all co-ordinated this time around. Quite a few of us were just a little too busy at this time of year to be able to tackle a big project like this with all of the time and work that goes together with pulling off a home tour. I was a little disappointed though because I really love Easter and I had so much fun doing the little home tours for Christmas and Fall that we did recently, so I decided to just go ahead and do my own tour anyway. For no reason, just because it’s fun. 🙂
And if you really love the big group home tours that we do where you get to (virtually) travel from house to house and peek in at what everyone’s done in their home, don’t you worry! We’re going to be doing another one soon, maybe something for spring or early summer.
So let’s get to it!
I haven’t shown my kitchen very often on the blog, but we recently did a really clever mini reno in there that really made the room feel like a whole new world, so I’ve kind of been re-inspired to share that room a bit more. But not too much because we’re still working on finishing up the last few details! If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably seen a few sneak peaks here and there. So I brought a few Easter things into this room, but I’ll save the shots of the new cabinets and counter and all that for my big “before and after” kitchen post that I hope to get posted for you some time soon-ish. 🙂
I shared how to make these cute little moss nests here, if you want to make some for your own Easter table! They look great with fresh boxwood clippings (don’t have boxwoods to clip? “clip” your own fakes from these or use pre-clipped)!
This is the same hutch that I repainted a few years ago that used to live in the living room. Chris had the brilliant idea to move it in here after Christmas and I love it!
The living room is really where all of the living happens in our house. It’s also our play room, our toy room, and our family room. Believe it or not, it actually works really well for all of those purposes, even with 2 kids and all their toys. I definitely have a few tricks up my sleeve for dealing with all that stuff, but I also try to keep the room pretty simple, so I only added a few Easter things in here and kept them mostly kid-and-toddler-friendly of course.
Yes, that sign does say “Hoppy Easter”. I just can’t resist a good pun!
Sometimes the Easter baskets are for decoration, and sometimes they’re for carrying around tractors, and that’s just fine. 🙂
While we have a pretty gigantic table in our kitchen, our dining room is much smaller so we really only eat in here if we’re having a special holiday meal, or we just use the table for drawing or working at. I know a lot of people are doing away with their dining rooms these days specifically because they don’t use them all that often, but I really like having a room that we can use for just the 4 of us on special occasions. Plus, that 150 year old dining room furniture that was passed down to me isn’t going anywhere!
These are the little dollar store bunnies that I painted last year. You can read more about that project here.
If you saw my Christmas home tour in December, then you might notice that I reused a lot of the same stuff for this holiday and just kind of looked at it a different way to make it work for Easter. You can reuse a lot of the same basic pieces for almost all holidays and just add one or two new things to get a whole different look. I love how much this cuts down on all that holiday decor clutter that can build up pretty quickly when you love changing things up for the seasons as much as I do!
Wicker carrots. Now, I’m not really sure how this idea ever got past the powers that be and actually made it onto store shelves, but I have to admit I do really like them. 🙂
My little stack o’ eggs that I made a few years ago for about $1.
I had to add just a little bit of Easter-ness into the new master bathroom too, just because I’m still pretty excited about the existence of that room. 🙂 Some cheerful yellow towels instead of the usual grey and some felt carrots-on-a-rope in a big jar did the trick!
I hope you enjoyed your little tour! I really had a fun time putting it together for you!
Are you going to be doing any Easter decorating this year?
