I just thought I’d take a moment today and get you updated on a few little things we’ve been working on around the house. Here’s how our most recent home updates have been going!
Well, things are slow-going around here with the home updates, but they’re going. I’m definitely of the mindset that any progress is good progress lately. 🙂 As I mentioned yesterday, we’re struggling a bit right now to get into a good routine where we can keep everyone fed and happy, keep the house tidy, and keep on top of running our two businesses. Of course, it looks like we’ll have all the time in the world to practice our new daily routines since it doesn’t seem like the need for social distancing is going anywhere any time soon. We’re all stocked up on DIY supplies so once we get everything figured out, I think we’ll have lots of fun progress to share with you from projects around the house. Excited about that!
Painting in the Dining Room
Full disclosure – This room is still only about 40% painted. I’m taking it as a win though because I had the hardest time even getting one corner done. I’m celebrating every little step forward along with way.
Although I love my Zeppelin Grey that I always recommend because it just goes with everything, I’ve really wanted to brighten things up in here for awhile. So I’m slowly painting the room white, little by little. The white I’m using is color matched to an old Martha Stewart paint color called “Picket Fence”. I’ve been using it for my trim since we moved in and it’s just perfect in my opinion. It’s quite a warm, cozy white and I like that it goes really well with any manufactured white furnishings that I have, which always seem to have quite a bit of warmth to them, while still looking really crisp and clean.
I managed to get this corner done first with the dresser. I also went ahead and painted the dresser the same color as our front door, which is a pale blue-grey called “Keystone Grey” from Behr.
I added some new artwork and it makes me happy.
The plate wall also got a coat of paint and I think it looks great with my collection of blue and white dishes now.
Really looking forward to getting the painting done in here… one day… possibly. 🙂
The Fireplace Situation
Oh gosh. This whole thing is rather disappointing, for the time being. As you can see, we’ve juuuust started to close the fireplace surround in, but we’re kind of stuck here for the moment. We’ll get there one day!
Renovating at the speed of real life. That’s what we’re all about around here. Who else has a renovation project going on that they just can’t seem to get to? Can I get a show of hands?
New Kitchen Hardware
I shared this in a post the other day, but I found some amazing $2 gold hardware on Amazon and I bought a few pieces just to play around with and to see if I liked them. Well, long story short, I loved them and I got a lot of positive comments about them when I first shared them in my Stories, so I ended up getting more and going all-out with them in the kitchen. Cheap and cheerful, but so much fun. 🙂
So those are our little bits of progress that we’ve had around here lately! Any progress is good progress!
