OK, so on a certain level, I kind of think I totally messed up on some things in this long-running kitchen reno of ours. Sure, it’s turning out beautifully and all, and it was also all done very inexpensively and completely DIY. BUT I still feel like I’ve totally let you down with at least one element of this room.
THIS part of the room here is at the very center of my giant screw up.
We installed that lantern light fixture above our table about 3 years ago, before we were ready to start on any other kitchen renovations, and it really did completely transform the feel of the room. It really made the whole room feel stylish and pretty well-updated even when it really wasn’t. And you thought you so too!
And you asked me where I got it.
Because you wanted to be able to experience the same thing in your kitchen, or your dining room, or your entryway, or wherever.
And I wanted to help you!… but I couldn’t.
Because of course I had to go and buy that light fixture from a little local store in my small town in the middle of nowhere, Ontario, Canada. And that’s just not helpful for you at all.
Since we’ve been working on finishing up the kitchen so much lately, I’ve been getting so so so many questions about that light fixture (and the table too, but one thing at a time!), so I decided it was time that I at least did something to give you some sort of information that might get you headed in the right direction if you’re looking for a light just like this.
I do have to admit that I see what your frustrations have been in trying to find the perfect lantern light fixture. The proportions and the angles on this one in my kitchen really are just right and it’s nearly impossible to find one that doesn’t look too modern, or too fake European, or too medieval.
It’s easy to find plenty of pictures of beautiful rooms with lanterns light fixtures in them, just not many that are actually for sale in real life that you can buy and install in your home.

Kind of amazing, right? I definitely understand why so many people are trying to get this look in their homes too.
So I’ve searched far and wide, and I think I’ve finally found a bunch of great options for you if a lantern light is something you’ve been dreaming of!
Here are some of my favorites that I found that have kind of a similar look and feel to the one that I have in my kitchen.
I really love the idea of using lanterns outdoors too. There’s a big old house that we drive by on our way out to the beach that has the world’s biggest lantern hanging over the front door and it looks amazing!
And here are other various lantern-inspired light fixtures that aren’t really similar to anything that I have at all, but that I couldn’t resist adding in!
I think I had a little too much fun putting this post together for you! Once I really got my search underway, I started to uncover so many great lanterns so I hope you found this little list of resources helpful if you’ve been searching too!
