After Christmas home decor sales are a great time to pick up a little something for your home to make it feel beautiful and refreshed for the new year.
We all know how empty and bare our homes can feel after the holidays when all the Christmas decor is down and put away. A room that previously seemed just fine can suddenly feel cold and unwelcoming as we readjust to more minimal decor, cold January light, and those long, dark winter nights. I find taking advantage of the after Christmas home decor sales to find a new decorative piece or two can sometimes be just the thing to make my home feel refreshed, and can even spark inspiration to use things I already have in new ways. A new rug might inspire you to bring out those pillows that you haven’t used in a few years, or to rearrange the books on your coffee table, and that can be all that’s needed to make your space feel freshened up, beautiful, and ready to take on the new year. To create a cozy, timeless home with character, consider pairing your new pieces with a trip to your local antique market or thrift store for a few vintage accents that speak to you and make your space feel like home. I always think it’s the combination of old and new that really makes a room sing.

Pictured above is a detailed view of the Rowan Stone and Soft Clay rug, which I used recently in a client’s home to bring together an English Country inspired sitting room filled with collected antiques and a bold, dark red armchair.
