I really like this mason jar craft I did. Just thought I'd let you know in case you couldn't tell from the title. :)
As we get closer and closer to this baby's due date (Dec. 16th!), I don't seem to find myself losing any of my very inconvenient urge to get crafty, but I am managing to - sort of - keep it under control with some really quick low-mess, low-effort creations these last few days. I thought I'd make a little series out it! Why not?
So over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing with you some of my projects for "Christmas in a Flash!". Little things that I've come up with that give me the satisfaction of Christmas crafting, while still letting me do important things like packing hospital bags, sleeping, and eating. And eating. And eating.
Chris(!) has also been coming up with a few more manly decorating ideas that I'm hoping to get to share with you too. Things that involve specific gauges of wire, and copper piping and stuff like that. Keep an eye out for those!
So this mason jar. Ack. I love it!
I've seen quite a few of those DIY mercury glass type jars around, and I love those, but I do still have to lay off the spray paint for a few more weeks, so I thought it might be fun to try out some gold this time around.
I started off with one of these leftover from some pasta sauce.
I added three coats of this stuff with a little paintbrush. The paint I used is DecoArt Dazzling Metallics in Champagne Gold.
I ended up with this!
Seriously, it's so pretty it's ridiculous. I look at it across the kitchen and it makes my heart smile. Who woulda thought? It's just a recycled mason jar, but when you slap some paint on it, suddenly it's the bell of the ball. Cinderella in jar form. And the poinsettia in the bubbly gold container is prince charming.
OK, that's a bit of a stretch, but you get what I'm saying.
It's a very pretty jar.
And it took almost no time.
And I like it.
More Christmas in a Flash coming your way soon!
