Purveyors of classic home decor are becoming easier and easier to find, but most of my favourites have always been American stores, which often don’t ship to Canada, so I did a little research. Here’s where to shop for classic home decor in Canada!
If you’re from Canada, online shopping can sometimes be an exercise in frustration. Often times, you’ll find something that you love only to discover that it can’t be shipped to Canada or that the shipping and duty costs are astronomical. As someone who really loves classic home decor, this can be really annoying, especially when there are so many beautiful things available to our American friends. Canada has a really amazing design scene, but I’ve found that there’s a bit of a gap when it comes to the availability of more traditional, classic home decor pieces, especially at an affordable price. I’ve been on a bit of a mission for the past few weeks and I’m excited to say that I’ve discovered – and re-discovered – a few great options. The great news is that a lot of these companies also ship to the US, so if you’re American, you don’t have to feel left out. 🙂 Here’s where to shop for classic home decor in Canada!
I don’t find myself in a big city with a Chapters or Indigo store very often, so I always end up forgetting about all the great home decor and gift items that they carry, along with all of the books. I re-discovered them a few weeks ago (online, of course) and I was so excited to find quite a few things that really caught my eye. For instance, I’d been eyeing up similar marble cutting boards to this one that were about $100 more (I’m not kidding) so I was delighted to find this beautiful one for such a reasonable price. They also have some really beautiful and affordable wall art options.
The rustic wood pedestal and the tea towels in this photo are also from Indigo!
Simons is a brand based out of Montreal that mostly focusses on fashion, but that carries a respectable number of items for the home as well. Definitely check out their rugs! Beautiful classic styles at prices that are honestly a little unbelievable.
I really appreciate Tonic Living’s “quality over quantity” approach. They carry a small number of decor fabrics and home accessories that are on-trend, but not too on-trend, so you know you won’t be needing to replace them in the blink of an eye. I love their curated approach to their fabric selection, especially. I’m on the lookout for fabric for some new pillows and I keep coming back to their site because they seem to have the largest selection of exactly what I’m looking for without a whole bunch of extra junk to weed through. Word on the street is that their pillow inserts are the absolute best too!
I discovered this Toronto brand a few weeks ago and I can’t get enough. I feel like almost everything they carry was chosen just for me. Definitely a “where have you been all my life?” kind of a situation. 🙂 Beautiful quality, reasonable prices, quick shipping, and a personalized note with your order. Just like with Tonic, I love shopping here because they have a small collection of items that are all just right. No digging through pages and pages of stuff just to find the one diamond in the rough.
A couple of items from my last order that I’ve been getting a lot of use out of:

Celebrating This Life
Celebrating This Life is a brand new shop that currently offers colourful and classic one-of-a-kind vintage finds. They have lots of blue and white, which of course totally speaks to me. 🙂 The prices are just amazing and I honestly really had to restrain myself from ordering one of everything. This blue and white ginger jar, little rattan dish, and large bowl are all from this shop and I just might be planning my next order already. Ha!
Good ‘Ol Amazon
While this is obviously not a Canadian company, but they have become a great resource for classic style for me. The selection on the .ca version of Amazon isn’t quite as good as on the American version, but I’ve still had quite a bit of luck finding items there that I couldn’t otherwise find on sites that would ship (reasonably) to Canada.
