So, you may have seen me talk from time to time about how I’m always trying to find ways to keep Kennedy occupied. This was one of those attempts. And it worked!
Chris bought me this alarm clock a few years ago.
The basic idea of it was good. I like alarm clocks. I needed an alarm clock. This alarm clock seemed cute.
The only problem was that the giant NEXxTECH just wasn’t doing it for me. He didn’t realize that and I forgive him. He, in turn, forgives me for writing this post about how I made a craft out of his gift.
So, I wanted to make it prettier and I also thought it might be fun to take it apart with Kennedy and see if we can figure out how to put it back together. If not, no harm done. She would have seen the inside of a clock, and I wouldn’t be out a clock because this one has been in a box for 2 years and I have since purchased this lovely little number from L.L. Bean, which I will never again be away from.
So here’s what our coffee table looked like mid-project:
Looks kind of scary and impressive, right? Well, it wasn’t.
We unscrewed the feet and the bells that were holding everything together and that was pretty much all we needed to do, after taking off the back cover.
I wish I would have taken a picture of Kennedy with the drill. I seriously just learned how to use a drill like 5 minutes ago and here she’s doing this delicate work with tiny screws and making Chris all nervous. It was a proud moment.
So basically we just cut this piece of scrapbook paper out and stuck it on there, cutting a little slit so it would fit over the hands. I let Kennedy choose and cut the paper. We tried to kind of make it round, but that didn’t really happen. And that’s OK! It’s a blue floral, but from a distance it kind of reminds me of a globe.
Don’t you think it looks kind of Land of Nod-ish? Like if someone took one of their hand-drawn type of pieces of art and it was a globe and then stuck it on an alarm clock? Yes?
Don’t tell me you don’t see it. Come on. Squint a little.
There you go! It’s cute right? Better yet, it’s getting used!
