I’m partnering up with a bunch of other bloggers today to bring you a little tour of fall tablescapes! You get kind of a two-for-one deal with me this week because I’ll be sharing another table in my fall home tour which is coming up tomorrow. So it’s fall tables week around here I guess! Today I thought I’d set the table in my kitchen all pretty for you.
If you’re new around here, we live in a 120 year old farmhouse in Southwestern Ontario. Our kitchen was an addition that was put on the house about 30 years after it was built, when they added electricity and plumbing to the house. The kitchen was last renovated in the mid-nineties and we just recently updated it by painting the cabinets, adding some trim to them, installing wood counters, and adding the farmhouse sink.
Our kitchen is pretty large (unlike a lot of rooms in the house) so we have room for a really nice big farmhouse table right in the middle. I love having all of this space to play around with when I’m setting a festive table, and while I don’t decorate every surface in our home for fall, I do like to really go for it in the areas that I do decorate. Exhibit 1: My kitchen table. 🙂
I love fall, what can I say?
I have an unnecessarily extensive collection of plaid wool blankets, which I try to make use of whenever I can, especially for fall. I thought I’d get creative and use the blankets as “runners” for the table so I could mix in a few different patterns of the plaid.
As far as the actually place settings go, I kept it super casual with just some plates and napkins in napkin rings. A meal in the kitchen should be a relaxed and casual thing, so it just made sense not to get too fussy about it.
This trough box will be staying on the table all season long, but I fancied it up for you a little bit just for this special table setting occasion. 🙂 You can see the “everyday” fall look for this trough box in my post from last week.
I filled in around the table with some kind of equestrian-looking hurricanes ($3.88 on clearance at Target a couple of weeks ago! Woot!) and some old horseshoes that we found when we were digging in the garden.
There’s some wheat too of course, just in case someone needs a little snack. Ha!
So that’s my fall kitchen table for this year! Do you do anything special on your table to celebrate fall?
Make sure you check out all of the other fall tablescapes listed below!
