Isn’t Summer great? The sun, the beach, the long, long days. Yeah, I have to be honest with you. Since school finished up for the year a little less than a week ago, I feel like I’ve just about had the life sucked right out of me. Nothing drains you of energy and fun ideas quite like the words “Mom, I’m bored.”
But what does that have to do with trays? Well, our house needs a little bit of life added to it lately to perk me up and what better way than a pop of color? Just a little bit. I always find that if I make even a little change to my surroundings, it can make a big difference for me and give me a big boost in energy, mood, etc. Know what I mean?
Or else I’m crazy.
Either way, here’s the tray! (Rhyming may be a symptom of the previously mentioned craziness.)
I’ve had this plain tray for about 10 years. I like it plain, but I never used it for anything other than keeping all of my other junk in the upstairs closet company. To the paint drawer!
I lifted the tray up on some pins before I started painting so it didn’t stick to the newspaper.
The paint I used was Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt in Hauser Light Green.
I used some Mod Podge to attach some burlap onto the inside of the tray and finished it off with a bit of grosgrain ribbon. Easy. Done. Instaboost for my house and for me! See that cluttered desk in the background (even when I’m taking blog photos)? Yup, I needed that boost.
The cloche and salt and pepper shakers are happy to have a home instead of floating around the table aimlessly.
On a side note: I’ve had more than one person think that this is a real plant under here and ask what it is. I’m pretty proud of my little dollar store fakey for pulling that off.
So there you have it! An easy way to makeover an old tray and possibly even make a difference in your day!
There’s that rhyming again…
