I gotta say, on the scale of awesomeness of instant gratification-type projects, this one ranks pretty high up there.
I’ve never done anything quite like this before, but I had these little seagrass ottomans I bought last Spring that needed a little bit of new life breathed into them. They had some cheap white-ish fabric on them originally and I always knew I’d be replacing it.
I finally got around to doing this 30 minute project this week (because my internet was down one afternoon) and I just love how they turned out.
I picked up one yard of this fun fabric on clearance for $6. I have quite a bit leftover too, so I could make a matching pillow or something if I’m ever so inclined.
I just roughly traced around the ottoman lids (they’re removable and there’s storage inside the base) and left about 2 inches of extra fabric around the perimeter and cut out my two squares of fabric.
Then I got to use the staple gun! Have you ever used one of these before? Pretty much the funnest thing ever! No. I don’t get out much, why do you ask?
I stapled at the middle of each side of the square and then added a few more to keep the fabric snug. For the corners, I just folded the fabric in a way that I thought looked nice, tucked it under and added a staple on the diagonal.
I just trimmed away the excess fabric, replaced the lids, and I had two custom fabric ottomans! Fancy!
Now, someone tell me what else I can upholster! Quick! I have a staple gun and I’m not afraid to use it!
