A beautifully-styled bookshelf always makes a room feel so inviting and it’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately with our newest project in the works! Here are some bookshelf styling favourites that have caught my eye recently!
My little Amazon shopping hobby is still going strong over here! Last week I showed you the progress that we’ve been making on the new fireplace wall project in the living room and that project is the cause of my most recent set of items that have been added to my Amazon cart. I just can’t stop thinking about how much fun it will be to fill up the shelves on those built-ins when we get this project done! I’ve been enjoying looking at pictures of everyone else’s beautifully-filled shelves for years and now it’s my turn! I thought today it might be fun to share some of my favourite bookshelf styling finds from Amazon. I’ve ordered a few of these items already, but I’m mostly trying to wait until I actually have somewhere to put everything. ๐
Bookshelf Styling Amazon Finds
One item that absolutely must make it on these living room shelves? Books! Shocking, I know. ๐
I have quite a few books already that have been waiting patiently for a home for the last decade, and I’ll be picking up some more at the thrift store as I see some that catch my eye, but these are a few really beautiful books that I can’t wait to add to my collection and that I think will look beautiful on the shelves, as well as be really enjoyable to read.
Books
Other Pretty Things
Every single shelf that catches my eye seems to have a little ginger jar nestled somewhere on it. Not a big one, just a little guy tucked in there on a stack of books or next to a plant. I was lucky to find the perfect little ginger jar at the thrift store last year, but this one from Amazon looks pretty similar to mine.
I love these so much for their simple design and beautiful material. Quite possibly the world’s most perfect bookends, in my humble opinion. Is it weird that I have such strong opinions about bookends? Ha!
I also really love these whale bookends. A little more whimsical, but still classic.
I ordered one of these and it just came in last week. Just a perfect little preserved boxwood topiary to add some no-maintenance green to your shelf. I like that preserved boxwood seems to look better than fake plants mixed in with real plants if you want a houseplant or two on your shelves as well.
For just a little bit of shine. ๐ I’ve been seeing some very expensive versions of gold bamboo frames lately so this is a really great price.
A little story: I used to vacation on a little island off the coast of Northern B.C. with my grandma when I was growing up. These glass fishing floats would wash up on the shores and the locals would sell them to tourists. I was always fascinated by them and thought they were really beautiful in all their various shades of blue and green. I saw someone selling them at a market a few years ago and I bought one immediately. It makes the perfect little beautiful thing to go on a bookshelf and I’ve been saving it for just that purpose. This is a set of three and I would cut the rope netting off and just enjoy the simple beauty of the coloured glass. Maybe they don’t come with the same story that mine does, but they’re pretty none-the-less! ๐
Here you can see that boxwood topiary as well as my own fishing float.
OK, these aren’t necessary something you put on your shelves, but they still help with giving bookshelves a little more style. I’m still trying to figure out exactly what type of lighting I might like for over each shelf, and I stumbled upon these sconces with adjustable arms. Definitely a contender!
Do you have a bookshelf that you can play around with a bit or are you just in the dreaming stages still like I am?
