Come on in!
Just watch your step. We're always working on something around here!
When we bought this house and were getting the home inspection done the guy said "OK, so what you've got here is just your typical old farmhouse." Bingo. Sold. That was exactly what I was looking for. And that's what we got. Of course we also got all of the typical old quirks that come with a place like that.
It's not even close to our dream house yet, but we'll get there. There's still plenty to enjoy around here in the meantime. Let me show you around the place!
We're up to our eyeballs in projects right now! We'll have all these rooms fixed up soon and more to add to the tour too!

This is going to sound really stupid, but I don't live in a part of the U.S. where we have bad-enough weather for covered porches, storm windows, mud rooms, etc. Is what I'm seeing of your house, that you enter into an enclosed porch where everything is weather-protected, so that your gorgeous antique sofa or settee can sit there and not get ruined, but you can take off your muddy farm boots and not track everything in through the front door into your living space, right? I think it's great; the front porch/mud room becomes it's own exterior room; additional space (I'd love that; my front door is so exposed, with no room for an awning or porch cover or anything...you just open the door and get blasted with the day, so thank goodness...although we need it because we're in a drought...we don't get much rain; we have a ancient, arched, rotting wood door we don't want to lose, but you can't even put a screened-door on it for cross-ventilation or as a barrier to an unwanted door-to-door salesperson). Incidentally, your daughter's room is just darling; how I love her colorful quilts. It's a refreshing change from the standard bubblegum-"pink" girl's room, which I think a lot of girls outgrow. You've made it so chic and cozy for her. I love the baskets on the shelves for the miscellaneous socks or whatever. How does that white slipcovered, living room sofa work out with a little one? Washable, like duck or denim? To-die for; I've always wanted one, but I've got big dogs and I think they'd ruin it in a heartbeat with their big 'ol sloppy tongues and dirty paws.
Thanks so much for all your questions, Vicki! The mudroom is completely enclosed, weatherproof and all that, so everything in there is protected. It's nice to be able to kick our muddy/snowy boots off in there and not get the mess tracked into the kitchen, where it leads. We do have a real front door, but it doesn't get used of course. :) The white slipcover is a disaster! It still looks pretty great in photos for some reason though. It's to the point now where it doesn't come clean completely and it's got a few rips and tears in it. Oh well! All in good time!
I think your home is so unique and lovely! The slipcover still works...isn't it amazing what we see and others do not?! I love the jar over the light!!! But my mother, who lived on a farm, wanted everything to look very polished so in her day that would never have been done!! Your house is a beautiful home!
WOW!!!! i love everything you have done so far and LOVE your property- just gorgeous!
Courtenay - what colour is your front door please?? and what paint company? I need a reddish orange for my front door...
Thank you for the tour Court! I loved it...especially that lantern in the kitchen!
Courtney I love your house you have done a amazing job with it, every time I visit your blog it makes me miss living on the farm, my family and I had a beautiful spot in Hastings ont. We moved into town a few years ago. But thank you so much because of your wonderful inspirational blog I realize we really belong in the country on a farm so I' m on the hunt for the perfect place xo Elle@sweetpeaschicnshabbies.blogspot.com
Just beautiful! I especially love your daughter's room, and I'm jealous you have a mud room!!
Your home is lovely, Courtenay. I know all about works in progress :) I agree that your all season mudroom is a great feature, and styled so nicely. Love Kennedy's room decor too.

It's absolutely pirfect with a million thing's to fix, and a million miles from where we kive now. Thanks again- your friend Elle @sweetpeaschicnshabbies
