I’m so beyond excited about this most recent update that we did in our living room. If you’ve been around here for any length of time, then you’ve maybe heard me talk about how we started losing some of our pieces of furniture in this room about three years ago when Jack turned one. Basically, he became mobile and a path of destruction has been left behind him ever since. 🙂
We’ve been without a coffee table in here for the last few years and it’s made the room feel really kind of empty and unwelcoming. I’ve sort of felt like we were college kids who just stuck a bunch of random hand-me-downs in a room and called it good enough. Even though we have a really nice couch, pictures on the wall, and all that, something was just missing.
So you see, this change isn’t just about adding back in a piece of furniture. It’s symbolic! It’s signalling the beginning of me taking back my living room and making it into a cozy, welcoming space again, once and for all!
I was so lucky to partner up with Pier 1 for this little project because they happened to be carrying the most perfect piece of furniture to sit right in the middle of this room and bring about all these cozy changes that are about to happen.
This is the Liard Grey Plaid Square Cocktail Ottoman and it is so wonderful in every way. I love the fresh grey and tan plaid, the soft grey legs, the nail head trim, and the big shelf underneath for storage.
I think a big over-sized ottoman is such a good option in the middle of a living room because it makes the room feel so cozy and comfy, it’s nice and soft so you don’t have to worry about ranbunctious little ones bumping into it, and you can add a tray or two on top if you want somewhere to serve snacks like you would do with a traditional coffee table.
We see you peeking over that pumpkin there, Chuckers! 🙂
Right now, because I’m just so thrilled that it’s fall, I have this tray on top and I’m using it to display yet another pumpkin. This is the “squatty” White Ceramic Pumpkin from Pier 1 and I’ve paired it up with the Fall Acorn Beaded Garland. I’ve talked before about how I like to fill-in with fall leaves when a display feels a little empty, bare, or awkward and this garland is kind of a fun take on that. The garland is made up of beautiful little crystal-ish leaves and acorns in all different colors and it really brings this part of my home into fall really nicely without me having to add in too much clutter. We use this room a lot so I definitely had to keep things a little simpler in here.
So that’s what’s going on in my living room for fall this year! How have you cozied up your living room for the season?
A big thank you to Pier 1 for providing me with some of the products that made this project happen! All opinions, ideas, thoughts, and suggestions are 100% my own as always!
