Keep your work area tidy while painting and avoid the annoying task of cleaning paint splatters afterwards with this amazing and simple painting trick.
This is probably my second favorite painting tip ever, next to the paint brush in the fridge trick, of course. 🙂 I’ve been using this little trick for a few different jobs over the last few years and it really goes a long way towards preventing paint splatters and keeps everything clean and tidy.
Here’s how it works!
The Paint Can on The Cookie Sheet Trick
When you’re setting up to do a painting job around your home, instead of grabbing a stack of newspapers to place under your paint can, or to rest your paint brush on, grab a couple of non-stick cookie sheets instead! Definitely pick up a few cookie sheets and set them aside just for this purpose of course. You won’t regret using them for this instead of baking cookies once you realize how well they work. Use a cookie sheet to rest your can of paint on to catch drips, under your roller tray, and to rest your paint brush on when you take a break. You’ll never have to worry about messy newspapers blowing away in the wind, getting stuck to your paint brush, or causing a tripping/spilling hazard again! For anyone who’s ever tripped over folded up papers and spilled their can of paint, this will be such a relief. 🙂
Great for Small Jobs
I also love to use the cookie sheets for smaller painting or staining projects (like when I stained my DIY embroidery hoop decor orbs). Just rest whatever you’re painting right on the cookie sheet. You can turn the piece over as many times as you need to and you don’t have to worry about the already-painted sides touching the surface of the cookie sheet because they won’t stick! Actually, you can let your paint projects dry right on the cookie sheet and they’ll never stick like they do on newspaper.
I love this painting trick and I use it all the time. Hopefully you’ll find it useful too!
Do you have any little painting tricks like this that keep your work space so much cleaner and tidier?
