I had a single hoop piece leftover from my DIY embroidery hoop orbs that I shared the other day, so I had to come up with a fun way to use it up. I made a similar but different photo wreath about 8 years ago, but it fell off the wall and was ruined years ago and I’ve been wanting to make another one ever since. So this was the perfect opportunity! I think I may like this one even better than the original and it was much quicker to make! So here’s how I made it!
Paint or stain of your choice (I used Varathane stain in “Early American” like always)
Ribbon for hanging
Start out with the one hoop piece from an embroidery hoop. I used the outer piece with the little metal tightener. You can use the whole 2-piece hoop as well if you like the look of that. I had just this one piece leftover, so that’s what I used!
Paint or stain your hoop to your desired color. I used my favorite Early American stain like I usually do.
For the clothespins, I think it’s probably much easier if you buy the ones that are already stained your choice of color. I bought the grey-stained ones. The price is usually the same as for the unstained clothespins and you save yourself so much time and frustration!
When the stain from the embroidery hoop is dry, start gluing your clothespins around the hoop, leaving a space at the top for your hanging ribbon. I’m not really obsessive about measuring these things, but you can measure to make sure all of your clothespins are equally-spaced if you want to. As long as it looks good to you when it’s done, that’s what matters!
Tie your ribbon around the top of the wreath. You can even use a strip of fabric for a bit of a more rustic look.
Hang your wreath and have fun clipping your favorite family photos in place!
This is such a quick and satisfying little project and it’s definitely one of those things that people will really notice and appreciate in your home. With the holiday season coming up, this would also be the perfect place to display all those Christmas cards!
