This is such a random tip I’m sharing today, but it’s one that I’ve definitely found to be very useful at times over the years! I definitely don’t think you should be stopping sneezes all the time. Sneezes are a natural bodily function and they exist for a reason, but there are definitely times where sneezing can be really embarrassing, or rude, or just inconvenient. Did you know that it’s impossible to keep your eyes open when you sneeze? You definitely don’t want to be caught in a sneezing fit when you’re speeding down the road and traffic is crazy. Or in the middle of a wedding. Or when you’re meeting the queen… or during so many other of life’s little moments like that. 🙂
I actually figured this trick out when I was 17 and working as a check out girl in a grocery store for the summer. You don’t want to be sneezing on someone’s food when you’re ringing them through, but you also can’t just run away in the middle of a transaction. I was so amazed when I figured out that you can actually stop yourself from sneezing when you feel your nose start to tickle and I’ve actually been excited every time I’ve used it successfully ever since. Again, I know, this is such a random thing to be talking about here today, but I just feel like it’s something that needs to be shared. 🙂 You never know!
So, the next time you’re in a situation where you feel your nose start to tickle and you know that you absolutely cannot sneeze at that moment, here’s what you do! Press your tongue firmly to the roof of your mouth and count to five.
That’s it! You should feel your sneeze responses de-activating instantly and then you can just go on with your business!
So weird. But so handy!
Hopefully this little trick will help a few of my fellow inconvenienced sneezers out a time or two!
