Are you looking for an easy, time-saving painting trick? This one will save you so much time and energy you’ll never stop using it. This is the paintbrush in the fridge trick!
If you’ve never heard of the paint brush in the fridge trick, then you’re in for a treat today! 🙂 This might be my favorite painting trick and we use it constantly around here. It’s something I think almost everyone can benefit from knowing about.
The Paintbrush in the Fridge Trick
The next time you find yourself mid-paint-job and about to take a break to let one coat of paint dry, or because you’re just too exhausted and you need to take the rest of the night off and pick up again in the morning, make sure you use the paint brush in the fridge trick!
Just take your paint brush, all dirty and full of paint, just as it is, and wrap it in a layer or two of plastic cling wrap. Then, stick it in the fridge! That’s it! 🙂
Your paintbrush won’t dry out on you, and you’ll be ready to get right back to painting. No need to completely wash out your brush every time you stop using it for a few minutes for fear of it drying out! Just stick it in the fridge!
We’ve been using this for years when we’re working on painting a whole room, but lately we’ve taken the paint brush cleverness to a whole new level!
The Everyday Painting Trick
We’ve actually started keeping a paint brush with white paint on it in there at all times! The great thing about this paint trick is that it will keep working indefinitely, so you can keep a paint brush in your fridge for weeks or months and it will still be perfectly usable!
About one or two times per week, we find some white trim somewhere in the house that could use a little touching up, so we just grab the paintbrush and fix the problem right then and there when we see it! We keep a small can of white paint right at the top of the stairs going down to the basement so we can grab it if needed, but a lot of the time for little dings and scratches the paint that’s already on the brush is more than enough to fix it.
Good for big paint jobs and for everyday as well!
I definitely wouldn’t recommend using your favourite paint brush this way, because over time you’re probably going to have some dried on build-up on the handle if you don’t cover everything perfectly with the plastic wrap. If you leave it in your fridge for months, I’m not going to lie, you’re probably going to have a tough time when you decide you want to clean the brush. A not-too-fancy, but comfortable to use brush is just perfect for this and will save you a lot of time and effort. You’ll probably also end up with a lot fewer dings on your walls too over time since they’ll become so easy to touch up! 🙂
Try this one out and let me know what you think! Have you ever used the paint brush in the fridge trick? Do you have your own favorite painting trick?
