Hands down one of my most popular posts ever is one called “How to Clean Your Floors: Believe it or not, there’s a right way to mop!”. I wrote that one a few years ago, so I decided it was time to do an updated version of the post with a little video because I know a lot of people find it helpful to be able to read about a tip and also watch it in action. 🙂
I feel like I should start out by saying that there isn’t really a “wrong” way to mop your floors. Any mopping or floor cleaning strategy is better than no mopping at all, but if you’re really trying to pull up as much ground-in dirt and mess as possible, this is the right way to go about doing it. This is how professional cleaners in restaurants, hotels, and big high-traffic buildings keep their floors so shiny clean even with everyone traipsing through with their muddy shoes all day long.
Go ahead and read the original post here, and then come back and watch the video so you can see exactly what I mean when I say “slop”! 🙂
OK. It actually looks like fun, doesn’t it? That’s because it is! Having a super clean floor afterwards is only a bonus! 🙂
*I’ve had some questions about the mop from the video because of how easy it looks to use (it is!). Here’s one that looks to be the exact same model as the one I use in the video. If it’s not exactly the same, then it pretty close to identical!*
Hope you found this helpful if you’ve been trying to figure out how to do a really really super good job of getting your floors clean!
