I just had to show you some of the progress and the excitement that we've been having up there though.
So right now we're working on installing the beadboard ceiling. Here's where we're at.
Looks simple enough, right? Chris changed up the lighting so that we have two smaller light fixtures instead of just the one. I'm painting the beadboard, he's putting it up.
But wait!! Here's what it looked like just a few weeks ago!
Ack!
When we started this project, there was plaster on the ceiling and then some tile stuff on top of that. Chris decided that just sticking the beadboard on top looked too wonky so every last little bit of everything came down.
Of course he had to go and do it the "right way" (someone's gotta!) so he put up some plastic and some two by fours for strapping.
Then he put up some foam insulation and finally, the beadboard on top of all that.
And now we're in business!
We picked up these neat ripply glass pendants and some Edison bulbs to go in them.
We've been busy the last few weeks with Christmas stuff so progress has been slow, but like a brilliant girl I know (me!) always says: Any progress is still progress!

Wow Courtenay, it's going to look great! I'm going to do the same ceiling in our new bedroom with the beadboard - where did you get yours and do you have any advice (besides painting it first)?? It's going to have a slanted ceiling too but it's a new-build - thank goodness!

Love the breadboard and yea Chris for taking the time to do it right - it will be so worth it. Great light choice too. I have lots of painting planned and hopefully finish up the board and batten to carry it to the basement stairs. I am really close to finishing painting the pine hutch in our kitchen. Just need to get new knobs and finish the paste wax.

oh my goodness, what a difference! I always hate doing things right -- I'm much more about the hack away at it until it looks pretty for a picture and then throw it away. That is why I do crafts and such and leave the real work to Alex :)
We've got so much remodeling in the works I've even thought of starting a blog - I just can't think of a clever enough title! Love the beadboard ceiling and lighting.

Oh wow. That second picture started stressing me out I had to scroll down immediately! The progress looks awesome! I can't wait to see the finished room! I'm in the process of painting my master bath and adding picture frame molding to my dining room. Eventually it will all be done right?!
I love the look of the beadboard on the ceiling and think the room is going to look fantastic when it's done. Such a lot of work in an old house! We don't have any projects on the go here but I have plans for later this spring for a couple of things that need doing.
