A New Chair and Some Big News

Oh my goodness, everyone. The biggest thing is about to happen. The. Biggest.

No, we're not getting our own TV show.

No, we're not moving to Ecuador. (You're laughing, but my parents actually just did!)

That's right. Our big news is that we are a getting a..... Kitchen table!!!!!

I know. Whoa. Soak it in.

We've been kitchen table-less for the last year and half since we moved in. One of my sets of parents were visiting us recently and thought that a table might be just the right Christmas gift for us this year. They thought right!

We're still waiting on delivery, but after we went out and ordered it, I took Chris to the store to go meet it and try it out.

While we were there, they had one of my chairs that I had ordered in the back clearance section for 75% off because it wasn't with a set. Score! I love the chairs that I picked out so much that I bought one more, just because it was there.

And then I dragged it outside for a photo shoot even though it weighs about 97 lbs. Because I do things like that.

More to come on this exciting new story as it unfolds!

I know, you still can't get over what a big deal this is. I know.

Now that the front hall is almost done, let's decorate!

I have one room, and only one room in this house that is nice and pretty and just how I like it, and almost fully renovated. Well, except for that one wall going up the stairs. And the ceiling. And maybe a few little touches here and there.

One thing's for sure: It's leaps and bounds ahead of where it was last year and I think that deserves to be celebrated!

With cedar of course. Lots and lots of fresh cedar to welcome you into our home. Or onto the main floor if you're just coming down in the morning.

I started out by taking this bronzy-leafed wreath that I've had up all year and tucking in a few branches here and there. Now this wreath was already technically a Christmas wreath but now it's just so much better. Love the fresh green against the bronze.

I tied these little bundles up the staircase at regular intervals. The living room just beyond has the Christmas tree and all the bright, happy, family-friendly decor in it, so I decided to indulge myself in this hall and keep things more subdued in shades of white, bronze, and green.

Just one little bronze Christmas ball ornament is all it takes to reinforce the theme here.

I found these sparkly little balls tied together in a garland leftover from last year so I just plunked them down in a cozy little nest of cedar in this footed bowl.

Glitter and twine - it's works! Who would've known? This just further proves that twine goes with everything.

And that's the hall this year! See? I bet you didn't even notice how half-finished this room is. Thanks for celebrating with me!

I'll be linking this one up to Kim's Mantel and Vignette Party!

A Tree Farm Inspired Sign Wall

Now this was a fun project!

I stumbled on a sign that I'd painted for Christmas a few years ago and decided to try making a few more to group together this year for a bigger impact.

I really thought it was going to take a lot more to get the look I wanted, but it actually came together pretty easily within a time frame of about 2 weeks.

I used letter stamps on some of them and just sort of free-handed with the paintbrush on others.

I tried to keep within the theme of signs you might see on a Christmas tree farm.

A Polish Christmas tree farm? Is there even such a thing? I don't know, but I made this sign a few years ago. I thought it would be fun because my Mother-in-Law was born in Poland. I Googled it to find out how to say "Merry Christmas" in Polish and I'm still not really sure if it's right, but it looks cool!

Some extra greenery here and there helped to fill in the blank spots.

This string of lights just says "fun" to me, so I kept it up after my Fall Fair Mudroom I did a couple of months ago.

The overall effect is cheerful and fun - just what I was after! And the best part? It's all held up with hot glue! Could it get any easier?

I'll be linking up to Traci's Best of November Party with this one! Join me there!

I'll be linking this one up to Kim's Mantel and Vignette Party too!

And to The Inspired Room too!

A Wreath on a Chalkboard

If you happened to get around to making one of those Easiest Fresh Greenery Christmas Wreaths that I was talking about the other day, I've got a fun idea for you about where to hang it.

First of all, I invested another 2 minutes of my time and made another one of these wreaths out of this other grapevine wreath that I keep using over and over again. This one already had the burlap rosettes stuck on it, so I just went with it.

I must say, I'm quite fond of this little arrangement we have going on here. It's pretty striking and totally simple.

If you were artsier than I, you could do a whole elaborate drawing around the wreath and then have the wreath as the 3-D pop-out focal point. If you're chalkedly challenged like myself, the one word approach works just fine too.

Joy. Yup. That's definitely what an easy peasy, 2 minute Christmas chalkboard brings to me!

If you like my little burlap rosettes, you'll love One Project Closer's tutorial on how to make a rolled fabric flower. They have just about every kind of fabric flower you could want over there! Check it out and make your own wreath on a chalkboard!
