A Taller Bed for Kennedy

Over the river and through the woods, to Kennedy's room we go! I just had to show you all this change we made in there recently because I can't believe what a big difference it's made.

Here's how the room looks now:

And here's how it looked before:

OK, there are a few changes since this photo in April, but I mainly wanted to draw your attention to the mattress. We used to have a little cheap one on there, from the time she was about 2, just in case of any "accidents". Well, she never really had any bed-wetting issues, but 5 years later, we still had that sad little mattress.

We put both a new mattress and a box spring on the bed, thinking the extra box spring would be ridiculous, since this bed isn't really meant to have one, but it actually ended up looking really great.

It's super-tall, but didn't they have super-tall beds back in the day when this house was built? Either that or straw, and we're probably not going to be going THAT authentic any time soon.

I added a bit to the gallery wall too and I really, really like where it's going. It probably only needs a few more gold frames and I can call it done-ish.

So what do you think? Do you like the super-tall bed look or do you like to keep things lower and easier to get into?

I like it better with the box spring, Courtenay. It looks more grown up. We did that with our boys back when they had twin beds too. Just seemed more comfortable for sitting or making.

I like it. How old it she? If she's on the short side, regardless of age, it could be a good excuse to do up a bedside stool :-).

The tall bed looks fabulous. Love the linens!

Looks great with the tall bed. A little step stool would be handy. My dgs's bed is even 'taller' and he takes a running leap. Part of the fun.

Yes, I like the tall bed! My grandma had taller beds in her house and they were always plush and cozy.
