DIY Pillows from Cheap Flat Seat Cushions

I just love a good low-cost/no-cost DIY pillow solution to add a little cheer to my day. There are so many great ideas out there to turn unexpected things into pillows and I admit I may be developing a bit of an addiction to these easy crafty tricks. Place mat pillows? I was all over that about two years ago. Walmart flour sack pillows? Yup! There are so many worse things to be addicted to though! OK, it depends on who you ask....

What I have here for you today is a new one that I haven't seen anywhere yet, and I think it just may be my favorite so far...

These chair cushion things have been catching my eye all Summer at Superstore. The original price was $2.50. Every time I would go over to see what that great fabric was, I would always find these sad little patio chair cushions with a little 3/4 inch piece of foam inside and then just walk away, thinking "Well, I have just no use for that!"

But then...... they went on sale for 94 cents. And I remembered that I'm crafty and brilliant. And even when I'm not there's a whole world of other bloggers out there who are and who will give me ideas! So I snatched those suckers up lickety-split!

And I cut a little hole in one side and pulled out the lame foam of wimpiness. A little stuffing, some hot glue to seal up the hole and I was done-zo! Or is it spelled dunzo? (Spell-check, you are being absolutely zero help here.)

Now I have a perfect pair of slightly-Summery, but really actually good for any season, snazzy little pillows!

Perfect for this transitional Summer-to-Fall time we're in now. Summall? Fallmer? Sautumn?

Again, Spell-check, thanks for nothin.

You are just too awesome for words!!! GREAT idea. I wish I thought of that! I stalked..I mean 'admired' some pillows just like that a while back...but I moved on because of their wimpyness. I wish I had thought of that! Future wimpy pillows watch out...cause I've got my scissor, stuffing and glue gun ready...and I know how to use them! =)

Never would have thought to do this...but that's why I follow great bloggers like you, to get wonderful ideas!! But...a glue gun?!? Wow, how different. And I wouldn't have to dust off that sewing machine that is being used as a TV stand in the office! Maybe now I CAN make my own pillows. lol

What an awesome idea. I was just complaining to my husband that I wanted to get new pillows for the livingroom but they were way to expensive. I never thought of the seat cushions. I am so going to be trying this for sure.
