Well, I was pinning around Pinterest the other day and I came across an idea from This Thrifty House to iron fabric right onto the wall.
Really? Does it work? I Googled it and read about 20 different tutorials on it. There are a few ways to do it, but the way I did it was using spray starch, since that's what I had.
It does work! It does!
And yes, the yellow carpet is still there!
Of course, Kennedy was not super excited about the idea at first. She's on to me and my passing my blog projects off as "crafts". I let her pick what kind of shape she'd like on her wall though and then she was all for it.
She must be reading blogs over my shoulder because trees on the wall are just the hottest thing in kids' rooms right now.
Here are the quick and easy steps!
1) Draw your shape on your fabric and cut it out.
2) Spray startch on the back of it.
3)Iron it to the wall!
That's it!
This little rocking horse approves of his new shady tree to stand under.
This discovery has been like a whole new world opening up to me this week. I've been sticking stuff on our walls left, right, and centre, just to see what works. Kennedy and Chris aren't too sure what to make of it, but they're humoring me, as usual.
Let me tell you, I have made some pretty fun little discoveries. Stay tuned for more ways to stick things to your walls and confuse your family!

Hey, that's too cool! I've never heard of doing that - thanks!
that looks great~! you are so creative.. may I ask how you kept the edges of the fabric from fraying? yours appears to have such a sharp clean edge..
thanks.
I like your choice of fabric and the color of the wall....Looks great with the pillows. Cute idea! xx
Interesting - I've never seen this done, but I really dig it!
That's super cute and such a great idea. I have to try starch. Thanks for sharing at DIYbyDesign.

Different tutorials on it. There are a few ways to do it, but the way did it was using spray starch, since that's what had.
I used this method to put a "wallpaper" border on the wall. So easy! So much easier to take down when you need to rather than real wallpaper!! Thanks for posting!
That is super cool! all the stuff I do with fabric and this is the first I've heard of that! Might have to try it!
I would also love to know how you got all those tiny link buttons the same size. Care to share with me??
Same technique as used here for the fabric, only it's paper! love this option for quick holiday decorating! Just make sure the steam on your iron is OFF!
What an wonderful idea--I love using starch!
Something on the floor, thinking it was just a piece of dirt and my little voice said, 'Put on your glasses, you never know' and sure enough, it was a big spider. Glasses are a necessity! xx
I would never think of doing such a thing! It looks really cute and the possibilities are endless!
Sounds like fun and looks great on the wall too. I might just have to give this one a try.
I just wanted to let you know I featured your post today. Thanks for sharing this great idea! I've used liquid starch like wall paper paste before, but this seems like it would be less messy.
