What is this plant?

Most normal folk would probably classify this as a "weed". If you've been hanging out around here for long, you may know that I love weeds. So much so that I may even from time to time call them "plants".

So what is this plant? Do you know?

It started growing in my front flower garden and it made such nice ground cover that I just mulched right around it. It has such nice succulenty looking leaves, doesn't it?

But does it have a name?

Purslane it is and I have always thought it was a weed but I recently saw a think about using it like salad greens or cucumber in your recipes! I haven't tried it yet so not sure what it really tastes like. My goat loves it though, lol!

The purslane we bought from a nursery has flowers and much smaller leaves than that, so ???? It looks fine, though, why not let it stay.

It is purslane!I don't like it , because it is extremely invasive!

April is right, some people eat it. I once saw a guy trying to sell it at the farmer's market! I had to laugh, because I pull it out of my garden and throw it away! It does have pretty fleshy leaves. --Min

Some weeds imitate plants and I think this one does that. I've always called it "weed purslane". It's flowers are not at all like real purslane Suggest you just keep it until it starts looking weedy...
