First of all, before we get into it today, do you want to know my big news?
The Creek Line House now has a Facebook Page.
I know. Wild. Better like, 6 years late than never, right?
So for the past couple of days I've been chatting away happily to myself and 2 other people, but really, it's getting a little lonely over there. So I thought I'd let you in on it.
Well, go ahead. Go check it out. I'll wait here.
There. Aren't you glad you went and liked me? I like you too!
So I saw this rocking chair in the Superstore flyer a couple of weeks ago and I needed it. Actually I needed two.
I thought it made sense for an old farmhouse like ours. So I went out and bought them. For full price. In a wind storm. I used birthday money though, so it wasn't too crazy.
But then, when I brought them home, Chris didn't really get why this was a fundamentally awesome purchase. He wasn't against them. He was just more like "OK, but what's the big deal? Why are these absolutely necessary, right now, in this wind storm?" Not his exact words, but you get the sentiment.
Then I realized, yeah, I'm actually 29, a good 40 years under the average perceived rocking gramma stage (not a real stat).
Plus we don't even have a front porch yet. That's the rocking chair's natural habitat!
So is it OK that I have these chairs, these outdoor chairs, willy-nilly about my house?
Yes, of course it is. It's just a rocking chair.
And it's pretty. They both are.
They're inside right now, just because it's so cold, but they'll head out to the back deck probably next month.
They have this really glossy navy blue paint on them right now, and I'll probably play with them just like this for the Summer, but in the Fall when I bring them back in, I think I'll probably paint them something a little more neutral, so I can continue to use them willy-nilly in any room of the house.
The next morning after I put these together, I came out of the kitchen to find that Kennedy went straight for the chair and was rocking away happily while she watched her cartoons. If that doesn't tell you it's an approved purchase, I don't know what will.
